Should I have a home inspection performed?

This is a question you should ask your attorney. A home inspection protects you, to some extent, from buying a home with deficiencies. If you do not have a home inspection performed and then find problems with the home before closing, you will inherit these issues.

It is our personal opinion (but not legal opinion, since we are not attorneys) that a home inspection should be performed on any home more than 5 years old. However, when you do have a home inspection done, you need to understand that it is the home inspector’s job to find things wrong with the home…and he will….even on a new home.

You need to review the home inspection with open eyes and understand that most of the items that are mentioned are most probably minor issues, and are things that you can correct yourself after you are in the home. Be more concerned about the major items.

In the section of this web site labeled “House of Savings” we have listed a couple of home inspection companies per county that have agreed to give a discount on their fees to clients that go to them through this web site. We do not represent that the quality of their services are good, bad or indifferent. Just that they have agreed to give a discount to home buyers that were sourced through this web site.
